Privacy Policy

Walkabout locks the apps you choose until you finish a real walk. It is built to work almost entirely on your device. This page explains exactly what data exists, where it lives, and what little of it leaves your phone.

What stays on your device

• Health data. Walkabout reads steps, walking distance, flights climbed, and workouts from Apple Health to verify that walks happened and to calibrate your goals. It writes one thing back: each walk you finish, saved to Apple Health as a walking workout with its distance and duration — nothing else, and only after you allow it. Raw Health data never leaves your device and is never written to our servers.
• Screen Time data. Which apps you shield, and shield and usage counters, live in the app's private storage on your device. We never see which apps you lock or how you use them. iOS itself is built so that we cannot.
• Your streaks, balance, goals, and settings are stored locally on your phone.

What we store if you create an account

The core lock-and-walk loop works with no account. If you sign in (with Apple, or an email code) to use social features, we store in your account:

• Walk results — distance, duration, outcome. Not routes, not raw Health data.
• Your display name and chosen avatar.
• A device push token, if you allow notifications.
• Your email address, only if you signed in with an email code. If you used Sign in with Apple and chose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.

What we never do

• No ads, no ad SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites, no data brokers, no selling your data. Ever.
• No reading of your messages, your browsing, or the content of any app we shield.
• No location. This version of Walkabout does not ask for or use your location at all.

Who else touches your data

We keep this list short on purpose.

• Apple processes all payments and runs the App Store. We never see your payment details.
• Superwall presents our purchase screens and manages subscription state. It receives standard purchase events and device-level identifiers needed for that purpose.
• Supabase hosts the database and server functions behind the optional account.
• Apple Push Notification service delivers notifications, if you allow them.

These providers act on our instructions. None of them are given your data for advertising.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for Health access and notifications (you can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings), and on performance of a contract for the account and subscription data we need to give you the service you paid for.

If you live in the United States

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Under California law those two words have specific meanings, and neither one describes anything we do — there are no ad SDKs in Walkabout and no data goes to advertisers. Because we don't sell or share, there is no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link for us to give you.

The categories of personal information we collect, and why:

• Identifiers — account ID, email address (only for email sign-in), device push token. To run your account and send notifications you asked for.
• Health and fitness information — walk results only (distance, duration, outcome), and only if you have an account. Backed up to your account so your walk history is not held on one device alone.
• Commercial information — whether your subscription is active. To unlock what you paid for.
• User content — your display name and chosen avatar. Nothing else: this version has no feed, comments or shared posts.

We keep each of these for as long as your account exists, and we do not use them to guess anything about your character, beliefs, or health beyond running the features described on this page.

You have the right to know what we hold, get a copy of it, correct it, delete it, and not be treated differently for asking. Delete is built into the app — Settings → Delete account. For anything else, email temi.elodimuor@gmail.com and we will respond within 45 days. Someone you authorise can make a request for you; we will just need to confirm it really came from you.

Other states — Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Delaware and the rest — give people similar rights. We do not keep a separate list per state. Whoever you are and wherever you live, you get the rights above.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account it is erased, not archived. Local data on your phone lives until you delete the app.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export, or delete your data. Most of it is one tap away:

• Delete everything: Settings → Delete account, inside the app. This erases your account and all cloud data permanently. Local data on your phone is removed when you delete the app.
• Turn off data collection: revoke Health, Motion or Notification permission at any time in iOS Settings. The app keeps working; the features that needed them stop.
• Everything else — access, correction, a copy of your data, or a complaint — email temi.elodimuor@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or EU and you are not happy with our answer, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Walkabout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Where your data is processed

Our servers are operated by Supabase and may process data outside your country. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app before any change that materially affects you takes effect.
